Our first Christmas

William and I had a wonderful Christmas season. We started off December with my 27th birthday and our annual trip to the mountains. This was our 3rd year going to the mountains and it seems to get better each year we go. Here are a few snap shots of our trip.

William with the horses we saw outside of the resturant. They were so pretty.

I am a little apprehensive because the horse kept turning its head towards me. (These were taken with my phone, so it is a little blurry.)

This was hillarious. William bought food out of the machine and the birds attacked him. He looks like the lady on Home Alone 2 when all of the birds come sit on her arms.

I wish I had taken more pictures, but I always forget. Next year I will take more especially since William's parents gave me an awesome camera for Chirstmas!

This year we also attended the 2nd annual Tacky Christmas Sweater Party hosted by Dana and Ryan Doss....here we are in our tackiest...Always wearing my pink!! :)

Here is our first Christmas tree. I have always had a real tree at my house, and William did too up until a few years ago. i wanted to start our tradition off right with a real tree. We bought it at Home Depot, and it took us about 30 minutes to find the perfect one. Or should I say it too me 30 minutes. Excuse my husband's turkey mount on the wall. I promise we are not that redneck. My bow was not perfect, I never go the time to find a tutorial on how to make one. Oh well it was fine for our house anyways.

Our stockings. We do not have a fire place at our town home, so I decided to hang them on the stairs. This picture was taken before I put up the real garland that I bought at Lowes.  It was cute and made the house smell soo good.

One of my presents from William.....

I am ready to begin my sewing!!!

I think I will start with something easy like a table runner or a scarf. My nieces will have tons of cute home made dresses!!!

When I begin making things I will take pictures with my new camera and share it with you!!!

Hope you had a Merry Christmas!!
What was your #1 gift? Did you get anything to help you be more crafty?

Busy Bee

I feel like I have been a busy bee since the last time that I posted something! Not crafting as much as I wish. I can say that I have bought several things to start projects, but I have not completed but a few.

Here is a picture of my classroom door. I teach 8th grade ELA and I figured the students would either love or make fun of my snowman...and to my surprise, most of them LOVE it!! I got the idea off of Pinterest!

~notice the monogram on the side of the scarf? FST (Frosty the Snowman) LOL!

Skip back to Halloween....
I wanted a cool bucket to give out candy. When I was at Michaels one day I saw this witches bucket and I just had to have it. I also bought paint pens to decorate it. The bucket was $9 plus 50% off + my 15% teacher's discount. I also got the pain pens with a 50% off coupon so they were $8 for 5-6 colors.

I messed up the wording because I was trying to be so perfect on it, and there is nothing to take it off, at least not at my house. So I might fix it next Halloween. What do you think? I bought way too much candy and ended up taking it to school to give to my students.

One Saturday morning two other teachers and I got together and I showed them how to make cheap coasters. We decided to make them for the other teachers as a Christmas present. The two monogrammed ones are for the teachers that I taught my new skill too and the purple and yellow ones are for the teachers at the school. It is an easy task....$0.16 tiles from Home Depot, hot glue, paper (pictures, scrapbook paper, etc), modge podge, acrylic, and cork board that you can get at Joanns is a big roll for cheap $2 or so.

I am going to try and be better at blogging. I might have to blog about more than just my crafts since I am not completing things that I start.
Is anyone else bad about not completing projects that you start? Or buying things and never even beginning? I am guilty of both.

I am going to the mountains this weekend, I am so ready to get away and enjoy time with my husband, sister, and her husband.

Enjoy!! :)

Writing Table

A couple of weekends ago my mom, sister, and I went to Clermont Days, a small festival not far from where we grew up. While we were there we stopped by a booth and that had tons of personalized items. Alicia spotted a writing table that she could personalize for Reese, my 2 year old niece. But I told her that she could not spend $15 on this because I could make it for less than 1/2 the price. She went to Michaels that day and bought Reese the same table. It was $5.99 and 40% off. I had the vinyl, decou-page, and acrylic. I cut out the letters and stuck them to the table. Then I  put 3 coats of decou-page and 3 coats of acrylic. We stopped it by her house after church today and Reese LOVED it!

HOMEmade biscuits

William went out with corporate people for dinner tonight, so I was trying to decide whether I was going to cook something or go get fast food. I came home from work and typed up a vocab test and remembered that I needed to return a red box DVD. On the way I had the idea to make biscuits tonight just for me....NO pressure since William was not going to be home. I picked up the flour and milk at Kroger and came back home to cook. Both of my grandmothers make awesome biscuits and gravy, so I know they would be proud. I have to say, my biscuits and sausage were awesome, but my gravy needs some work! Hey, you have to start somewhere! William will have the best homemade biscuits once I get the hang of cooking them!

This isn't the best picture, but you can get the idea! I had already ate 2 of them :)

I will be calling my grandma (dad's mother) to tell her about my biscuits!
*Thinking of you Granny! :) (my mom's mom passed away a few years ago)

Fall Crafting Night

I have really been inspired by Pinterest, William's aunt, and other bloggers to begin crafting. I think it is neat to have things in your house that you have created yourself. I scrapbook occasionally and I thought I could try crafting in other ways. I made a lot of the things that we used at our wedding from the unity sand vase, to the road signs to the programs, so I have spent lots of time at Michaels and Hobby Lobby the past year!

Last weekend I bought a wooden headboard and foot board and William's mom and I painted it turquoise and then we distressed it. I will post pictures in a blog this week after I get it to the house.

On pinterest, my new love, someone had posted pictures of white pumpkins that they had painted for the fall. I decided this would be a project for me! So on Friday when I received an email that Michaels was giving an extra 15% off your entire purchase from 12-6, I went straight there when I got off work. By the way teachers get an extra 15% off everyday (I did not know this) if you bring your teacher ID. I bought a medium sized white pumpkin and a mini white pumpkin. I bought some acrylic paint ($0.59 + 30% off +15% off) CHEAP!!

William and I have been on the go all the time, so we decided to rent a movie and stay at home on Saturday night. This was the perfect time for me to begin my crafting projects. We watched our movie and then I brought all of my materials to the living room and started working. I knew that I wanted one pumpkin to have a "W" but the rest was a last minute decision. I hand drew the "W" so it is not perfect. I am a perfectionist, but I have decided that not everything will be perfect. This is my creation.....

White pumpkins                                                                   My hand drawn "W"
The finished pumpkins.
At first I thought about doing brown and turquoise, but then I decided to use fall/Halloween colors.
What do you think?

The next project I started was taking a plastic charger that I bought at Michaels and scrapbook paper to make a serving tray/display plate. I have only completed the first step, putting the paper on the tray. I used Decou-Page that I bought with a 50% off coupon and my 15% off coupon!

This is awesome glue!!! I put it on the back of the scrapbook paper that I glued to the tray, and I think I will put a couple of layers on top of the finished tray.

I am one of those people that can never make a decision.  I had 3 different papers picked out because I could not decide which one I liked better, and William, who joined me on my second trip to Michaels, helped to make my decision. I think he was ready to get out of the store :) .

Here is a picture of the tray with the paper so far.....

I am going to add a "W". I will cut the "W" out with my Cricut. Once I put the decou-page on the top, I can use it from serving or for decoration.

A New Beginning...

I am so excited to begin blogging! I am going to try and blog as much as possible. My new love is crafting, so I thought blogging would be a great way to chart my progress and share my EASY crafts with others. I also look at blogging as a virtual scrapbook since I love to scrapbook in my spare time!
