Placemat

My very first sewing project was a place mat. I found a prepackaged sewing project at Joanns. It came with the pattern and fabric, I just had to cut it out and add the insert. I wanted something easy to complete so I could get comfortable using my sewing machine. Here is the place mat. I need to make the other one......

Sister's Good Deal...

The day after Christmas my sister and I always do some
Shopping at Target, Kohls, and a few other nearby places. She has been wanting to decorate her house, so we are always looking for cute things. Target had the Christmas merchandise marked down 50% and she found this cute gold tray. I went to get me one and they were gone. She paid $3 for it. I took it home and put an S (made with my cricut "song bird" cartridge) on it and modge podged it. It is now sitting on her fire place. It is cute....

She is trying to figure out how to decorate her mantel.... any suggestions?

First Infinity Scarf...

I made myself a scarf today in around 15 minutes!! It is not perfect, but I am proud since it is the 1st accessory for myself that I have hand-made myself. I used this tutorial from an awesome sewing blog. I used plain cotton fabric (not the softest)  because I could not find any flannel or jersey cotton to make this. I am going to have to use some fabric softener to make it softer, but it will work!!!

(Excuse the comforter piled up in the background, I was washing our sheets!)

I want to make more. However, there is another tutorial that I am thinking about following. It uses more fabric, but it wraps around more than once. I was afraid to try it with so much fabric in case I messed it up. Now that I know it is easy, I will try the other one and hopefully I will be able to find jersey or flannel fabric that I like to complete it.
