DIY Pocket Skirt

This is WAY late. I have already worn this skirt a time or two. I LOVE making things with my sewing machine.... I followed this tutorial to make this skirt. I have actually made 2 skirts with this tutorial because it was sooo easy.

You need 1.5 yrds of fabric, making thread, and 1 1/2 inch elastic waste band.

This was my first skirt that I made. The day I wore it to school, all of my students and other teachers commented on it and asked where I bought it. I was so proud to say "I made it!!". Some teachers begged me to make them one! I had the biggest smile all day.

This second skirt I made recently. I wore it out that night out with friends. My friend Melissa picked the pattern because I could not choose. I love my skirts. I have already bought a few more different fabrics to make spring skirts. I wear my skirts now with my tall brown "riding" boots.

**You can kind of see the pocket on this one. I have it on the hanger a little crooked.

TIP: The tutorial that I used called for 1.5 yards of fabric, but I think that you can use around a yard. The first time you make it, buy more and then you can always use less.

The next time I make this skirt I will give you my step by step instructions and let you know how much fabric I actually use. I altered the steps a little because the skirt was way too bulky.
